Customer Rashid Yusuf Rashid Al-Khaybari reaped the big prize in the One Million Afaq DSL campaign. The prize is presented by Saudi Telecom for the first winner in a series of valuable prizes awarded by the company to all its Afaq DSL customers ever since the launching of the service and until the end of the campaign on 28th February, 2009. Customer Al-Khaybari, renal failure patient, was in luck, but he could not manage to show in the prize draw celebration, where his uncle, Khaleel Al-Khaybari, attended on his behalf.
Soon after His Excellency Eng. Saud Bin Majed Al-Duweesh, Saudi Telecom Company President, has announced the name of the first prize winner, the audience started clapping. But the reaction became stronger and cheers and warm clapping grew louder when celebration presenter, George Qardahi, asked about the reason why the winner did not attend and the latter's uncle answered that he is suffering from renal failure and has to perform renal dialysis on a continuous basis.
In a press statement given in this connection, Eng. Saad Bin Dhafer Al Qahtani, Vice President of the Saudi Telecom Company for the Home Service Sector and chief of the high commission for the Million Customer Prize, expressed his great happiness that Rashid Al-Khaybari has won this prize and it seemed as if he wanted to say that the winner truly deserves the prize due to his special health conditions. He also expressed his wishes that the Saudi Telecom would contribute through this prize to the treatment of one of its honored customers who placed their valued confidence in the company by selecting and favoring its distinct services.
On his part, customer Rashid Al-Khaybari rendered full gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi Telecom for awarding him such prize which underlines the company's honesty and credibility with its customers and its fulfillment of the promise it made. "Although I could not manage to attend the prize draw, I reaped the million Riyals and I thank God for this prize which would definitely help me receive treatment abroad and change my life style to the best", he said.
The Saudi Telecom has given a celebration last Sunday to do honor to its Afaq DSL customers, where the Million Customer Campaign prize draw took place. In addition to the big prize won by Al-Khaybari, ten other winners have won the second prize; namely, a free lifetime subscription with Afaq DSL Shamel. Furthermore, 100 were awarded the third prize; that is a free two-year subscription with Afaq DSL Shamel, whereas 1000 customers won a free one-year subscription with Afaq DSL Shamel and a 70 % service rate discount was also announced, which is considered to be the largest discount in Afaq Shamel service rate.
