To Stay Constantly Connected to Internet STC Launches (Wi-Fi) Service Exclusive and Free to Afaq DSL Shamel Subscribers

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has launched today, Saturday, 7th of March 2009, its (STC Wi-Fi) service, granting its Afaq DSL Shamel customers an exclusive and free opportunity to enjoy wireless browsing, using the same user name and access password the subscriber adopts at home. This is available in the areas covered by the service, so that customers would stay constantly connected to Internet, at all times, and during moving from one place to another; with high quality and speed, from one single source, and without any additional cost to the wireless connection. Such service stems from the STC’s pioneering role in the field of Broadband services, and its genuine and constant willingness to provide additional and innovative services that fulfill its customers’ desires and aspirations.
On the other hand, STC has stressed the importance of Wi-Fi Hotspots service, which provides its Afaq DSL Shamel customers with wireless Internet service round the clock; without wires or modem, in all areas STC has successfully covered with the service, taking into account the locations most visited by customers; e.g. coffee shops, Cornish area, and internal gathering places in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam; as designed for the current stage. Later phases tend to cover all cities in the Kingdom, since Wi-Fi technology is considered to be one of the latest methods contributing to providing wireless Internet services.
Additionally, STC announced its provision of a new and innovative method that would help its Afaq DSL Shamel customers to easily retrieve their lost user name and password, through sending an SMS to number (907), with the text as follows: number (8111) followed by a space, then the subscriber’s telephone number plus area code, or through Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, by calling (907) then following the instructions, with no need to talking to an employee or customer service representative. Further, subscribers can also resort to visiting STC portal www.stc.som.sa.
